  Our Mission Statement

      Sweet Gum will host its additions/alterations dedication service on July 31, 2016 (5th Sunday) at 3:00 P.M.  The service will include our dedication litany, short speeches from visiting dignitaries, dedication of the new Narthex, as well as renovated rooms, the bell tower, the donor courtyard,  and the seats of honor.   Bishop George W. Brooks, Pastor Emeritus, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Greensboro, NC   will deliver a brief sermon and Rev.  Larry Covington of Ebenezer UCC of Burlington, NC will officiate.   Lunch will be served before the program.  

We invite all to attend, as this event is the culmination of several years of preparation and prayer. 

Our theme is   “A Faithful Journey – A Committed People- A Vision Fulfilled.”   Sister Hazel Poteat and Sister Faye Thorne are co-chairs for this event.

​       Seats of honor are still available for purchase.  If you would like to participate by purchasing a pew, please see Sister Roxie Lee or Sister Faye Thorne.  The purchase price is $750.00 on the buddy system.  Businesses, organizations, and ministry price is $1,000.00.  All funds go toward our building and remodeling initiative.  Please call 336-312-1964 if you have further questions.

The Gospel Choir will Rehearse on Saturday, June 11th at 10am.

The Women's Ministry will meet this Saturday, June 11th at 9:00am.

Monday, June 13th - Search Committee Meeting - 6:30 PM
Tuesday - Thursday June 14th, 15th and 16th - Vacation Bible School - 6:00 p.m. each night. 

We are expecting three days of fun-filled activities and fellowship. The theme this year is “I’ve Got Talent - Showcasing My Work for Jesus,” from Ephesians 2:10 which says ( “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” ) We would certainly love to have you with us … whether as a student or as a volunteer!
